Kara Edwards, a Long Island native, began her dance studies at the age of two at the Upper Room Christian Dance Academy of Dix Hills, NY, where she also began her teaching career under the direction of Mrs. Janet Campo. Kara’s strong passion for teaching young dancers how to find the true artistry in dance has led her to become a repeat teaching artist for The Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation’s AileyCamp Outreach Program for the passed 5 years. While studying to receive her BFA in Dance Studies form LIU Post, Kara became a member of Balasole Dance Company based in NYC. This being her first professional line of work as a dancer, Kara was honored to be featured in “Attitude: The Dancer’s Magazine” for her solo performance of Diamond in the Rough - a self-choreographed piece performed at the premier performance of the company. Since then, Kara has had the privilege of being featured in music videos for many different artists in the industry such as Donnie Klang of Making The Band, Gorilla Qrew, and Chrisette Michele, just to name a few. In 2013, Kara began working as a dancer with Yellow Brick Road Theatrical - a Long Island based musical theater company. She has also performed in events such as the Gap Wall Street Women’s Spring Dress promotional flashmob, Sybarite Choreographer’s Showcase, Carnival NYC, and Prelude NYC. Kara has had the privilege of training under some renowned Master teachers such as Michael Leon Thomas, Guillermo Asca, Gigi Torres, Jared Jenkins, and Hannah Frederick.
